About Jordan's Law
The attack on our son was recorded and immediately shared on social media, where it went viral. We learned later that the individual who filmed the attack had prior knowledge of it and conspired with the attacker to share the video for social media notoriety. We were horrified to find out that conspiring with an attacker to film a crime is not in itself a crime.
Jordan’s Law (California AB 1542) is a response to that lack of accountability. Jordan’s Law will deter social media motivated attacks by increasing the penalties for an attacker who videotapes an assault and also make clear that anyone providing assistance to an attacker to film an assault will be equally liable.
